Like most of the other vehicles on the Chevy roster, the new Chevy Volt can be connected to today’s most popular smartphones running compatible versions of iOS and Android. When paired to the Chevy MyLink infotainment system, the touchscreen in the car becomes an extension of the smartphone. Applications from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be controlled and manipulated without touching the phone and potentially being in violation of local laws. A pair of USB ports are also available.
The best way to get the longest possible range from the new second-generation Chevy Volt is to keep the lithium ion batteries charged. Some of the Chevy hybrid’s competitors require special equipment to be installed to recharge the batteries. The Chevy Volt is outfitted to get its juice from a standard 120-volt household electrical outlet. Owners can speed up the time it takes to recharge the vehicle at home if they have a 240-volt outlet installed.
Despite the futuristic exterior and next-generation battery technology, the new Chevy Volt has a very contemporary interior that is built for the comfort of drivers and passengers. Those behind the wheel will have a large LCD screen for the center gauge cluster giving them constant updates about the car’s battery state, speed and other important information. On top of the center stack is a large touch screen housing the Chevy MyLink system which controls audio and navigation features.
